Rosenthal anniversary collection Sixty&Twelve wins iF Design Award

The limited collection Sixty&Twelve celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Rosenthal studio line this year and translates 60 iconic vases with twelve contemporary colours into the here and now. This unique collection has now been recognised by iF International Forum Design GmbH with an iF Award 2021 in the "Professional Concept" category.

Included in the illustrious birthday party are Rosenthal classics such as Plissée by Martin Freyer (1968), Pollo by Tapio Wirkkala (1970), Conio by Michele De Lucchi (1994), Fast by Cédric Ragot (2006) and Fondale by Office for Product Design (2017). The shapes are as varied as the colours: they range from pure, architectural volumes to lush, floral objects, all made of through-dyed porcelain mass. What appears light at first glance is technically and handcrafted demanding, even for Rosenthal. All vases are limited to 60 pieces and bear a numbering in the bottom stamp.

With the award for the outstanding Sixty&Twelve collection, another award joins the ranks of Rosenthal's total of more than 500 design awards. Rosenthal GmbH has been a founding member of what is now the world's largest design forum since 1954 and this year accepts the 294th iF Design Award.

The iF Design Award is one of the most coveted awards in the design scene and honours outstanding design achievements in seven disciplines ranging from product design to architecture and professional concept. This year, the jury consisting of 98 independent international design experts evaluated more than 10,000 submissions from over 40 countries, more than ever before.

Rosenthal may have one of the longest traditions of Germany‘s companies, but is also one of the most modern. Just as we did when we were originally founded over 140 years ago, Rosenthal develops products equally for discerning end customers and for exacting professional clients from the restaurant and hotel trade. Our products stand out with exceptional form, function, quality and craftsmanship and represent a cultural asset “made in Germany”, never ceasing to combine innovation and creativity. With its award-winning porcelain design, trendy lifestyle collections and modern, elegant classics, the Rosenthal brand raises the bar time and again for aesthetics and individuality.

Established figures from the worlds of architecture, design and art, but also the hottest newcomers and talents design avant-garde dinner table collections, foster a joy of giving and create sophisticated furnishings. The collections are manufactured in the Rosenthal porcelain factory in Selb and the “Thomas am Kulm” porcelain factory in Speichersdorf, which offer some of the porcelain industry‘s most advanced production facilities anywhere in the world and deliver sustainable manufacturing with careful use of resources thanks to the forward- looking investments that have been made.

New interior collections and accessories enrich the Rosenthal world by adding designer objects that go far beyond the limits of a conventional table setting and round off the huge product variety.
