Herald of spring: the new Rosenthal vases collection

With clear and straight geometric lines but also some subtle details, the Ode vase series from star designer Sebastian Herkner draws the full attention of the beholder to the delicate nature of the porcelain. The textured surface of the semi-gloss vase body is broken by a lustrous ring of porcelain, decorated with golden ornamental elements that hint at a hand-drawn style yet are elegant at the same time. At first glance, the design appears to have a classical style reminiscent of the columns so prevalent in the architecture of the ancient world, but look more closely and its precise workmanship reveals a thoroughly modern new piece of interior design. The vases are available in four different sizes.

Fondale vases, designed by Office for Product Design
A cylindrical body and an asymmetric, tapered collar – for Scottish-Swedish designer duo Office for Product Design, those represent the essence of a modern vase, which provides the perfect stage for creative floral displays. The purist design is underlined by a glossy surface inside the cone that is available in platinum, gleaming gold, plain white or striking black and produces a reflective effect that accentuates individual flowers or grasses. A delicate lattice design makes the flowers almost float in the vase and makes the creation part of a distinctive design culture.

Geode, designed by Cédric Ragot
In his new creation, Geode, French designer Cédric Ragot has flawlessly combined the mineral content and structure of rocks with a smooth vase design. As in his earlier works for Rosenthal, Ragot has managed to find unity in apparently distinct contrasts: elementary forces of nature and disparate textures, both matt and gloss, captured in a porcelain jewel. It is available in black, white, platinum and titanium-coated gold.

Riite glassware, designed by Helmi Remes
Balancing perfection with imperfection and beauty with uneven shapes, Finnish glass artist Helmi Remes has designed a new vase series made from transparent glass. A smooth, rounded body meets a rough-looking sleeve made from white murrine-style glass. Riite is inspired by the old Venetian method of glassmaking referred to as merletto, meaning 'lace', with a delicate structure that is reflected in the fine surface of the glass strips. The interplay of different lengths, rounded edges and tiny imperfections in the glass provides impressive evidence of the handcrafted artistry of the glass-blowing and skilfully draws the eye over the vibrant surface. The crystalline vases, each one unique, act as a powerful design statement on the perfection of the imperfect – one that is made wonderfully even without any flowers. Riite is limited to 49 pieces worldwide.
